Jennifer Robertson

is Professor of Anthropology and the History of Art at the University of Michigan (USA), and author of numerous articles. Her books include: Native and Newcomer: Making and Remaking a Japanese City (1991); Takarazuka: Sexual Politics and Popular Culture in Modern Japan (1998); Same-Sex Cultures and Sexualities: An Anthropological Reader (2004); and A Companion to the Anthropology of Japan (2005), among others.

Robertson is presently completing a new book on the intersection of eugenics, robotics, and national reinvention in Japan, supported by Guggenheim and Abe Fellowships.
